By kaydo at 1:19 am on Friday, April 20, 2007

I know you were worried that the fun may die when Eric the Electric died, but it is not so. This weekend shall be funfilled. The PANTS weekend begin on Thursday, because that’s how we do things, and a day of denial isn’t bad.

  • Thursday – Uni Pub
  • Saturday – Canberra Knights Ice Hockey (5:30pm, Philip Ice Skating Center, Tix at door); with added ice skating options either before from 3:30pm or aftewards from 8. You’ll be cold.
  • Sunday – Afternoon drinks at The Venue in Erindale

Did we miss something? Email us or let us know in the comments.

By kaydo at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 19, 2007

Josh Pyke is playing at the ANU tonight. If you can face a night without the PANTS folks at the Uni Pub, then maybe the ANU is for you.

Public Holiday(s): EASTER!

By kaydo at 12:01 am on Friday, April 6, 2007

It never ends (well it does, but it’s rather a long and fancy weekend).  As I don’t trust wordpress quite enough for this, let’s just say you don’t have to go to work on April 6th (Good Friday), April 7th (Easter Saturday), April 9th (Easter Monday).

Almost makes you wish you were in Tasmania as they also get the Tuesday off.  Bastards.

Public Service Announcement – 31st March

By kaydo at 12:44 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2007

Want to make some geek panic for April Fool’s day? Try installing Microsoft’s own Blue Screen of death screensaver. I swear this is true.

I stole this idea from Wired.

Last minute: Queanbeyan Charity Rodeo

By kaydo at 1:44 pm on Friday, March 30, 2007

A last minute idea for the weekend, for those of you not participating in CIT’s African Drumming course. Apparently the good folk in Queanbeyan are trying their hand at this rodeo caper this weekend. I think if there’s one thing we learnt in our 3 rodeo history, its that its less hardcore the closer it is to the city. Bungendore rodeo had kids in hoodies, while the Taralga and Canowindra rodeos were all cowboy all the time. I’ve no idea what side of the fence Queanbeyan falls on, but maybe don’t wear thongs just in case.

Where: Showground – Glebe Avenue, Queanbeyan.
When: Saturday 31st March, Gates open 2pm – Rodeo starts 4pm.
Cost: Adults $15, children under 12 $8

Thanks Dno!

Some new ideas

By kaydo at 11:48 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2007

A few ideas for the next few weeks:

  • The Canberra Marathon is on April 14. I’m too lame for this, but there are 5 and 10km versions that I guess can be ambled. Stupidly they wont allow bike, blades or scooters, so much potential fun is gone.
  • The cycling track at Stromlo Forest Park. No need to wear lycra, but it might be a good little adventure.

Will place something in our swanky new calendar if there’s interest.

Also, you need to get tickets now for Warren Miller (the Friday 6:30pm session) and the Balloon Fiesta. It’s what all the cool kids are doing.

spamtown

By kaydo at 11:59 am on Saturday, February 24, 2007

Due to an enviable amount of truly dull spam-type comments against our posts (>50 in a couple of hours), i’ve added some words to the blacklist (yes, censorship!) and made it so you need to put in an email address to post.  Rest assured, it’s words you’re very unlikely to use unless you’re posting about your online pharmacy, and that we’ll do nothing with your email address (legitimate or not).  We’re too lazy.

Impro Theatre ACT : Sugar High

By kaydo at 5:05 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2007

If, like many PANTSters, you like fun, then this may be just the ticket.  At 7:30pm next Sunday Feb 25, you can see the antics of “Sugar High” at the Street Theatre.

Impro Theatre ACT’s players are always hyperactive, so we figured we’d feed them too much sugar and see what happens! Sugar high is a completely improvised show where teams of performers will compete in short scenes to win lollies for you, the audience. Sure to be hilarious and hectic, Sugar High is playing for one night only at the Street Theatre, 7:30 pm on the 25th of February. Tickets $18 ($15 concession).

More info from the ACT impro website.

Thanks Matt!
