Vote for wintery greatness

By kaydo at 5:37 pm on Monday, June 18, 2007

The cool kids at the National Capital Authority are letting you vote for movies you’d like played as a part of the Winter in the Capital fandango.

The exciting thing is that they’ve chosen some truly timeless classics that I must insist you all vote for:

  • The Karate Kid
  • The Lost Boys
  • The Goonies
  • I’ve seen each of these movies in the last 6 months, and I must say that they really do hold up to the test of time. I am not delusional. Please vote.

Australia day reverse long weekend

By kaydo at 9:04 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2007

The PANTS rundown on the big weekend.

  • Thursday 25th – Enjoying a drink at the new Uni Pub in town. Maybe after the 104.7 kids depart.
  • Friday – to be scheduled
  • Saturday – to be scheduled
  • Sunday 28th – Taralga Rodeo.  Apparently it’s an hour and a half from Canberra.  We’ve long been trying to recapture the magic of the Canowindra Rodeo a few years ago.  This is where they have real Cowboys and real Carnys.  This is also where people ride their horses across the spectator area instead of walk.  This is where head protection is a must, but is often avoided in favour of a ten gallon hat.  This is, without a doubt, gold.  Bungendore Rodeo has nothing on this.  The cowboys there wear hoodies with their Akubras.  They’re not real cowboys, but some sort of city-influenced hybrid.
  • Monday 29th – International Hockey at Lyneham.  It’s just $12.  I’ve never seen non-ice hockey before, but may as well start big.

Yay.

Friday (yet to be PANTS endorsed) event options include:

Proposed: Islands in the city

By kaydo at 9:46 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2007

I hate to link to news.com.au, but sometimes sensationalist journalism has good ideas.  I propose an island adventure in Sydney a la: http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,23483,21026128-27977,00.html

It’s probably only a good idea if you like fun.  The kayak based one looks grand.  Register your interest in the comments or email joinpants@gmail.com

Proposed: Sunday Funday Pants Event

By threeze at 12:39 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Guys and Gals,

May I suggest a day of fun on this coming weekend, whether it be at Ten-Pin Bowling in Belconnen or a future-sport of Laser gun shooting out in Tuggeranong?

Bookings can be made for either based on interest and based on which day of the weekend is most popular.

Come on team, LETS GO!

Pumpkin carving for halloween.  We can make little jack-o-laterns and leave them about the place.  More inspiration here.

More details to come.
